Giving up to electric power cords is a dream that might soon become reality.
The news come from WiTricity Company from Massachusetts by claiming that in less than 2 years they will develop a system to send electricity power “trough air”, not using wires. The announcement was made last week in Oxford (UK) at the TEDGlobal Conference.
The company was represented by Eric Giler – the chief executive of WiTricity Company – made a demonstration of this theory. He demonstrated it by powering a TV set with a transmitting unit placed in a wall or by wireless charging a G1 cellphone with an inside incorporated antenna. For the demonstration, he also used an iPhone.
Giler reveal the mystery of wireless electricity power system. The secret stays in using resonant magnetic coupling which he claimed that it is safe for humans to use it. The advantages of this system, in Gilter’s opinion, are the fact that we could get rid of the power cords and also tons of batteries for household devices.
It looks like WiTricity is not the only company interested in developing wireless electricity system. Intel is also working in the same direction.
