Last week, in an interview, Sony senior VP Mike Abary talked about the company’s plans to improve VAIO notebooks with touchscreen in three or four mounts.

Sony intentions are to launch the new notebooks with touch features almost in the same time with Windows 7 official launch (on October 22).
He said that Windows 7 is preferred to Vista, to be used on touch interfaces.

If these plans are to become reality, Sony would be one of the few companies to incorporate touchscreen on computers. Other companies that are using touch features on computer are: HP on home PC, Dell on Latitude XT and Apple.

Regarding the entertainment on the upgraded VAIO, the executive put the press on movies and TV shows and not on the games. He said that those two are the priorities, but later it is possible to focus on casual games (not PlayStation Network).

Abary also talked about NVIDIA’s Ion graphics and system platform and Intel’s Consumer Ultra Low Voltage platform in mobile technology.

Well, it looks like we will have to wait until October to make impressions on the new Vaio..
