If the lack of wireless sync for your iPhone is a big problem to you, and if you are more interested in a wireless way to synchronize your iTunes library than in Google Sync for contacts and calendar, that you will be pleased to find out that the Bluetooth Special Interest Group (SIG) is currently working on a new standard for Bluetooth.
This new Bluetooth will work with a WLAN (Wi-Fi) based connection. The actual Bluetooth system offers you a maxim speed of 3Mbps, the new one can go as high as 24Mbps.
Dubbed Bluetooth 3.0 + High Speed (BT 3.0+HS) is what will follow Bluetooth 2.0+EDR. The improvement of interoperability between Bluetooth devices is the main objective of this project, but the speed is what makes it very interesting.
The WLAN will be added to the MAC layer, physical layer and the other layers of the existing Bluetooth, and although the speediest of all connections still remains physically wired connection, 24Mbps for a Bluetooth is pretty good.
