It seems all the Nokia e71 owners have one more reason to be pleased with their acquisition. Until now, considering even the launch of the Ovi Store, the insufficient amount of applications for Symbian smartphones may have been a motive of discontent.

Nowadays though, Google has taken one step forward by releasing the Mobile App for the Nokia e71 and thus providing instant access to Google Search, Gmail, Calendar, Reader, Maps, Youtube, and Picasa.

The Google App works for other smartphones as well, providing a quick and easy way to get to Reader or Picasa without having to browse your bookmarks, or accessing Youtube without having to create a shortcut for it on your homescreen. The application will launch from your screen by hitting the delete key and it will automatically use the GPS connection if you need to search for a bookstore near you, for example. And the best part is of course, the fact that it is totally free.

A downside is, though, the fact that it can not be considered a full-on application but rather a quick launcher to their various services, since you actually need to download Youtube, Gmail and Google Maps first for them to work. Regarding the other services, they are just bookmarks leading to the mobile-optimized web pages.
