The SSD is rapidly catching up with it’s older cousin, the conventional hard drive. The major downside of the SSD was the (relatively) small storage capacity, but that has been overcomed by Super Talent’s Master Drive RX 512GB SSD.
The drive is based on the RAIDSSD proprietary technology which claims a read speed of 230MB/sec and a write speed of 160MB/sec managing sequential data. The drives are also available in 128GB and 256GB storage capacity, if you find the 512GB sized drive a bit spicy in terms of pricing.
Using the MLC NAND flash, smaller size means faster write speed – 200MB/sec. The price tag is a bit high, so if you want to benefit from a full-sized MasterDrive RX, spending $1499 will get you there.
