The planned 10-inch Galaxy Tab 2 of Samsung has been announced on February 13th. The Android 3.0 Honeycomb-based tablet is equipped with an NVIDIA Tegra 2 dual core and has an eight-megapixel camera on the back and a two-megapixel one on the front, 16 or 32GB of storage. It is thinner than the existing Galaxy Tab and smaller than an iPad although it has a slightly larger screen. Other features are Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n, HSPA+ 21 cellular networking with no voice calling and a large 6860 mAh battery. However, it is to remember that the battery has to power the very large screen. It is uncertain how long it would last, since Samsung itself did not give any details about battery life.

Another variant with 1.2GHz is also expected and may be ready soon. Samsung usually ships hardware within only a few weeks of the unveiling, but not in all areas necessarily.

No matter what the timing would be, this tablet is vital for Samsung and is supposed to replace the current Galaxy Tab entirely. The model currently present on the market has a 1,024×600 screen and a single-core chip and could not run Android 3.0. Therefore, it could remain trapped on Android 2.x.
