A new update has been recently posted for Goggles on the iPhone and Android. The update is meant to expand what can be scanned and how well. The 1.3 application can pull up results based on advertisements from large magazines and publishers from the United States, starting with August 2010. The ability of solving Sudoku puzzles by snapping photos of the original sheets is a quite unusual addition.

There are specific performance improvements in scanning for Android users. The application uses now the same automatic barcode scanning as Google Shopper and does not require a button in order to turn up the results.

The feature can be found in Google Mobile App on iOS-based hardware. The use of Goggles normally implies the existence of a camera equipped with autofocus to obtain expected results.
