Dan Kaminsky, security researcher, has introduced a mobile application that is able to process images for those users who experience red-green colorblindness. The application is named DanKam and is available for Android and iOS. It processes images through a series of color-shifting schemes and aims to overcome the condition. Images to be processed are taken in real-time from the camera of the device.
The mechanism consists of selectable profiles which exaggerate some hues in order to bring the colors the extremities of the color spectrum. The methods applied are believed to help people differentiate certain colors which normally would be indistinguishable.
DanKam is available from the Android Market and App Store for $3. The application will be launched on other platforms too in the very near future.
