Google has updated Google Docs to allow editing on mobile devices. iOS 3 or 4 and Android 2.2 can perform basic changes like addition of text, editing of charts and extending bullet point lists. Users of Android can also make use of voice actions to perform text changes instead of having to type.
Multi-user collaboration is also working in mobile, and it is possible for users to see changes made by those present on the web as they happened. The interface also lets users switch between editing and simple viewing in order to avoid unintentional changes in the documents.
The change is expected to go live immediately. Google did not specify whether it planned to improve the level of features dedicated to editing or expand support to other platforms like Windows Phone, BlackBerry and others in the near future, though this might depend on having a web browser with equivalent features.
