Microsoft claims that Windows Phone 7 will not have tethering

On September 24, 2010, Microsoft stepped back from its declaration that Windows Phone 7 supports tethering. Microsoft’s spokeswoman declared for Electronista that statements from the company’s Brandon Watson were not correct and that the operating system will not support tethering in any form when released. It seems that tethered connection sharing was an eventual goal, but will not be ready for October.

The software company has previously admitted that it considers Windows Phone 7 a 1.0 release that reboots its entire platform. Full multitasking and copy-and-paste text have been cut and will most probably come back in subsequent updates.
