Twitter has posted its iPad update, freely downloadable form the App Store. The already universal application has the same navigation bar as the Tweetie for Mac, but has some unique interface elements that were never or only rarely seen in an iPad application, like the slide-out panes. When tapping an update, not only full information about the user is provided, but also content relevant to the tweet-in line, such as an HTML5 video or a website.
Panes are not locked to a particular position and update in the background. Thus, swiping a pane becomes possible while a video is completely downloaded or it is otherwise time to return.
Context-sensitive gestures are also new, as a two-finger pull shows the previous conversation that is attached to an update and pinching a tweet provides shortcuts to actions. Similar to the Seesmic Look, it is possible to search for and also track others without needing to sign up for Twitter.
This update is immediately available worldwide, although automatic updates might wrongly show the old version. The right Twitter edition should be brought by a manual download.
