Older rumors of an iPhone at T-Mobile USA seem to receive a slight confirmation these days. Unnamed sources reveal that in spite of some problems with the carrier, it is sure that there will be a version for Apple’s smartphone available to the second-largest US GSM carrier. The iPhone should reach the network early next year.

Although such rumors do not necessarily have to be very accurate, they are contradicting another claim for a T-Mobile version reaching the network in the fall this year. However, the latest news correlates with information mentioning a Verizon version of the iPhone for next January, which would mean that Apple might make the handset available on all carriers in the United States at the precise moment the exclusivity of AT&T finishes this year. apple is probably ken to release the phone on as many carriers as possible, in order to kill Android sales by offering the iPhone as an option to all those who want to avoid AT&T completely or cannot justify the cost.

An iPhone model for T-Mobile USA is relatively easy to create as it needs an available chipset supporting the 1,700MHz and 2,100MHz frequencies that are used by T-Mobile for the American 3G.

Some leaks have already unveiled the possible pricing for the T-Mobile G2. The new Android-based reference device is believed to cost $200 with a contract and rebate, and would be relatively inexpensive in its off-contract version, at $500. Although release information is not yet available, there is a possibility that the device ships on September 29th.

Not as powerful as the Nexus One, the G2 would have a slower processor, but would be the first phone equipped with a completely reference Android 2.2 version. It would support features that are normally banned by carriers, like no-cost 3G sharing and tethering. The centrepiece of the device would be the 14.4Mbps HSPA+ 3G. It would also sport a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a five-megapixel camera as some of its major defining traits.

Just because it has a lower clock speed, doesn’t mean it is “slower.”

The new Scorpion processors are better than the Snapdragon.
