Archos has almost entirely modernized its device line by bringing five new Android-based models. They will all ship with the version 2.2 of Android and Flash 10.1 and will support tethering as well as hotspot sharing on the 3G devices. They have minimum specifications in common like the use of an ARM Cortex A8 processor and 802.11n Wi-Fi.

The smallest model is the Archos 28, which is a 2.8-inch media player with a resolution of 320×240. It has an 800MHz processor and a 4GB or 8GB storage. The Archos 32 has a 3.2-inch screen with a 400×240 resolution and high definition playback support. The 4GB version costs $100, while the 8GB is sold for $150.

The larger model Archos 43 has a 4.3-inch display which gives it a tablet-like design. It also has a 1GHz processor, a microSDHC slot for more storage and a kickstand helping to watch videos. The output is on a native 854×480 screen. A mini HDMI output allows playing high definition video content as its native size. An Archos 43 with 8GB of storage costs $200.

The Archos 70 is the first of the two full tablets. It has a seven-inch display with a resolution of 800×480 and a front camera for video chat. Buyers will be able to choose the storage format. An 8GB flash model is priced at $275, but there is a possibility for frequent video viewers to choose a $350 model with a 250GB hard drive.

The last device in the line is the Archos 101, which is a tablet with a ten-inch display using a resolution of 1,024×600. What is unusual is that it goes back in storage in order to keep a 0.47-inch thickness and has either 8GB of space at $300, or 16GB for $350.

The first three devices are scheduled for September, while the two tablets, the Archos 70 and 101, will be ready for shipping later in the fall.
