Some people who are familiar with Apple’s plans claim that the sixth-generation Nano will not force the Shuffle out of the maker’s iPod product line. According to AppleInsider, the size of the new Nano will most likely shrink considerably; it will be a little larger than a 1.7-inch display (probably a touchscreen). In fact, the dimensions could be comparable to the second-generation Shuffle. Moreover, Apple is said to be keeping its Shuffle on as an “entry level” iPod.
The price of Apple’s new Nano will most probably stay somewhat consistent with the fifth generation, which is priced at $149 in an 8GB model or $179 in a 16GB variant. However, rumors don’t say anything about changes in capacity or if the player will hold onto other features, such as a camera or an FM radio tuner. Apple is expected to announce details at a future press event, programmed on September 1; this will start at 1PM Eastern or 10AM Pacific.
