Yoko Ono recently said that expectations related to music of the Beatles reaching any digital music store are not realistic for the near future. The famed widow of John Lennon did not give further details but pointed out to a disagreement between Apple Corps and either Apple Inc. or EMI. She said Steve Jobs of Apple Inc. was a brilliant person but mentioned that certain aspects referring to the Beatles’ label were still in discussion. As a consequence, she says it is premature to say the event would happen.

According to Sir Paul McCartney, EMI would b the obstacle, but it is not known what the terms of the company might be.

Yoko was optimistic that Apple Corps label’s chief, Jeff Jones, would be supposed to make some progress in transferring to digital. The original head, Neil Aspinall, has been very cautious about keeping intact the Beatles’ legacy, with the risk of affecting access to their music in any new format. Jones helped supervising of the Beatles’ catalog remastering as well as the rights authorization for Beatles: Rock Band. He also contributed to bringing the first non-disc format release as a USB flash drive containing the whole collection of the Beatles, both in 320Kbps MP3 and in FLAC.

Almost all other projects related to the Beatles’ label or individual members have found a way online or are expected to find one soon. This includes solo material as well as Apple Records artists like Billy Preston.
