According to an unnamed source who talked for the Boy Genius Report, AT&T seems to be preparing the release of the Dell Streak on July 19. This unconfirmed report does not provide, though, any other details regarding subsidized pricing, for example. It is known that the new device will be sold for $500 as an unlocked version.

According to Dell, the 5-inch screen of the Streak is ranked somewhere between a smartphone and a tablet; the gadget benefits from a set of features which are common to many of the Android-based handsets. Dell’s Streak integrates a 1GHz Snapdragon, 800×480 display, 2GB of internal storage, a 5-megapixel primary camera, which also has LED flash, and a front-facing camera for video conferencing.

Voice plans offered by AT&T start at $40 per month; the smartphone plans add an extra minimum $15 for the 200MB package or even $25 for the 2GB option.

AT&T just released the Captivate (their version of the Samsung Galaxy s). Somehow they managed to make it’s performance lag just enough to annoy people. but the T-mobile version doesn’t seem to have that issue. It is obvious that AT&T does not want anything to compete with the iPhone, so, why would they pick up the Dell Streak?
