The 2010 model of the iPod touch would have almost al the features of the iPhone 4, excepting the phone ones, according to the UK retailer John Lewis. As some suppliers said, the new iPod touch would have a five-megapixel camera like the iPhone 4 and would utilize FaceTime video calls. A front-facing camera has not been mentioned, but it is believed that talk would use Wi-Fi.
Further details have not been given to Pocket-lint, but it is understood that the gyroscope of the iPhone 4 would be included to support the gaming credentials of the iPod touch. As Lewis presumes, Apple’s targeted audience would be formed by young people and other persons interested in heavy social networking.
Since its 2007 launch, the iPod touch has often borrowed many elements from the iPhone, as the latter has shipped each time a few months in advance of the iPod. Consequently, the Retina Display with 960×640 resolution, the A4 processor as well as the 802.11n Wi-Fi are candidates for the new iPod touch model. As for cameras, they were considered in the past, as prototypes of the iPod equipped with a camera have surfaced in recent months. However, they may have been part of abandoned projects in late 2009. The 2010 model of the iPod touch is expected to be significantly redesigned.
Information coming from the retailers is known as not being always accurate as they have incomplete pictures of the products. The iPod touch new model is expected to come in September and, according to Apple’s usual practice, a music event will be held the very month the company will update the iPod line.
