Through an e-mail to a fan, Steve Jobs, Apple’s chief, may have just confirmed a firmware-based solution to the supposed reception issues of the iPhone 4. The executive said in the e-mail that there is no reception problem and that the reader should stay tuned for more details. This update contrasts against earlier responses to others, where Steve Jobs repeated the official opinions about needing to change one’s grip.

If referred to the pulled Apple support discussion, Apple could have a fix for the iPhone 4 issue, by improving the baseband response time to switching to the best available signal. Early rumors claimed that the flaw was an inherent part of the phone design; moreover, rumors were claiming that Apple may have to offer a hardware fix. According to unconfirmed reports from the UK, some clients were even getting free bumper cases as a temporary solution.

However, doubts have been cast on this – earlier iPhone owners using iOS 4 have declared that they could too replicate the issue.
