A brief tease last week preceded US Cellular’s detailed presentation of the Samsung Acclaim, the company’s first Android phone. Aiming at the mainstream, the QWERTY slider has a 480×320 screen and features a three-megapixel camera as well. It is powered by Android 2.1 and has as an option to attach a low $15 extra to its regular data plan.
The price of the Acclaim will be $100 with a contract but with a perk, because early buyers are supposed to receive a $20 gift card usable for buying applications available on the Android Market. Phones will be received in stores starting on the 9th of July.
Additional handsets like the HTC’s Desire are also supposed to arrive in the future.
