Texas Instruments has presented a Blaze tablet especially designed for developers. The 1GHz OMAP4 chip is equipping the 10-inch, multi-touch screen device with a modular design and the possibility of adding a large number of features. There is an option for an external DLP projector and camera modules, FM radio, GPS, Wi-Fi and 3G connectivity.
The base tablet has 32GB of flash memory and 1GB of RAM. It also has a wide expansion, starting with HDMI video output and ending with a USB and SD card slot. Games and other applications which are motion-sensitive are supported by a gyroscope and an accelerometer.
The Blaze tablet will be available for developers in late August but the price is not yet specified. Customers are not named by now, but a company like Palm, which has already used TI OMAP3 chips for its Pre Plus and Pre devices, could be preferred. Its future parent company Hewlett Packard has clearly stated that it would want to produce webOS tablets.
