Nexus One users found out from Google that the Android 2.2 version reaching this type of smartphone is not a complete build. FRF72 seems to be a test version and the final variant will most likely start shipping at the time a near-final build meeting the quality criteria will be released to other devices. Even if no schedule has been given, the start of summer could mean that the 2.2 version will soon be ready as an online update.
The problem will not affect some Nexus One owners; precisely, the earliest ones. Many of these were media trusted with an early type of access. Despite this, the majority of the smartphone’s owners will be affected, as they can’t even use Adobe’s last version of Flash (10.1) and other OS upgrades since the 2.1 without the Android 2.2.
Setbacks may also be faced by other phones; Google needs to make a final version before talking about updates to others.
I bought my N1 the day it was released. I was expecting some kind of a preference to get an early update. I feel stupid when I leave my phone every night in an 3G sweet spot that is out of my reach in case somebody calls, in order to get the over the air opdate. Today is June 27th and Ive been doing it since May 20th. Frustrating.
This is sad and disappointing. It has been over a month since it was ‘available’.
It would be rather nice to have been able to watch the world cup, but since flash 10.1 requires android 2.2…..
You might want to check your info, that frf72 was not the final build was known for quite awhile, now frf83 has been out for a few days and is the final build it is being pushed ota.
