Skype will soon release a new software development kit (SDK), which will let device and software manufacturers incorporate Skype functionality into their products – SkypeKit. This new kit will contain various APIs for features like voice and video calling, instant formatting and also Skype’s SILK codec-based audio formatting.
SkypeKit will come out, for the Linux platform, on June 23; Windows and Mac versions will most likely be released a few weeks later. The program is currently in beta; participation is constrained to an invite-only basis.
