Nokia has recently presented the company’s new flagship N8 smartphone, at an Australian event which took place on June 23. Nokia’s spokespeople seem to have declared that this will be the last Nseries smartphone based on the company’s platform, Symbian. They also said that MeeGo will be the platform to accompany all future Nokia handsets; this will be developed together with Intel.
As a result to this decision, Symbian will only be available on the Nokia X- and E-series; the budget-oriented C-series will most probably use the older Series 40 OS. The company’s first device to be equipped with MeeGo will be the N9, which is rumored to be out before the end of the year. Nokia N8 will start shipping in late summer and it might not be ready before the end of August.
