Innpu, the Chinese cellphone manufacturer, has recently presented what the company claims to be the first handsets with integrated retractable headphones. These are the W1860 and T1880, which are meant to calm down people who fear exposure of cell radiation to the user’s head, also freeing up the customers’ hands. Innpu claims that callers will most probably use a headset while on the phone, with the condition of having one available.
The maker claims that the retractable mechanism is able to wind up to ten thousand times during its lifetime. The mechanism has also been improved, so that it is as compact as possible. Moreover, it doesn’t have to be constantly charged, as it is not wireless and it also seems to be more comfortable because users don’t have to wear it all the time.
The two handsets are Windows Mobile 6.5-based, supporting the 2G and 3G networks from China Unicom. There are still few details on the touchscreen the smartphones have; despite this, it is known that the handsets use 624MHz processors, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and five-megapixel cameras, among other common features.
The worldwide release should take place soon, even if the exact launch date or the price are yet to be known.
