Acer has canceled the Aspire One 532g netbook. It would have been the first to use second-generation Ion-based graphics from NVIDIA but the company has canceled it worldwide. There is no explanation given so far, but driver issues are incriminated. Optimus graphics switching has been used to flip to Intel or Ion graphics for either ten hours of battery life or speed. People who have pre-ordered the netbook may receive alternatives and also have discounts honored.
Much of the bonus to buy the Aspire One 532g has been cut down during the past days. The Aspire One 721 and Aspire One 521 are both using Radeon HD 4225, which can offer improved performance than the hardware from Intel and do not need special switching. Both computers are slightly more expensive than the 532g but have the advantage of being already shipping.
