T-Mobile, the wireless carrier, has recently started offering a beta version of the program Device Tune-up, which is available for Android 2.1 and even older phones. T-Mobile says that this is a background program which runs continuously and is intended to optimize performance by simply closing unused running services. The new software is on by default, differing from other similar programs, as it doesn’t necessarily require any input to work.

Tune-up is also intended to increase battery life, but also improving performance. Most of the applications will not be hurt by the utility.

T-Mobile’s Device Tune-up beta is already available. There is necessary for users to have My Account 3.3 installed before running the application, but also to allow the installation of non-Market third-party applications in the settings.
