Taking advantage of the CommunicAsia event, Samsung has announced the addition of two new Bada based handsets – Wave 2 and Wave 2 Pro (S5250 and S5330). The two devices are lower-cost alternatives to the company’s Wave flagship; they benefit from smaller 3.2-inch LCDs (instead of the 4-inch Super AMOLED) and from three-megapixel cameras, but don’t sport 3G anymore. Both still have 802.11n Wi-Fi, which offers faster wireless, GPS, Bluetooth and microSDHC slots. Moreover, the Wave 2 Pro has a sliding QWERTY keyboard.
Bada hasn’t changed and still centers the Social Hub, which is an area pooling e-mail, messages and status updates from all contacts in only one area.
Both the Wave 2 and the Wave 2 Pro are expected to start shipping in August, targeting Russia and Southeast Asia. Even if no other countries have been mentioned, the handsets offer quad-band GSM and EDGE support, being able to work in most of the countries, if unlocked.
