On June 15, 2010, AT&T announced that it has already run out of its release day iPhone 4 pre-orders. It seems that all the orders made after 4:30PM Eastern Time have been delayed for at least June 25. AT&T believes that the sellout is due to an incredible interest in Apple’s new iPhone and also affirmed that this should be the company’s best online sales day in history.

Even if Apple confronts some processing problems, which slow down or even stop some of the pre-orders, the company still lists its own orders in advance as shipping June 24. On opening day, both Apple and AT&T will benefit from impulse purchase iPhone 4s.

According to the sales rate, Apple could reach an all-time record for release iPhone sales. The previous set record was last year, when the manufacturer sold one million iPhone 3GS in only three days. Numbers are likely to be higher for 2010, due to the fact that AT&T has now encouraged online pre-orders more than it did in the past, assuring that most phones will reach their owners on the launch day.

In the short term, iPhone 4 sales will most probably eclipse any other competitors. For example, one of the most successful Android handsets, which is Motorola’s Droid, has been sold in 525,000 units in one month. Droid Incredible or Evo 4G have both been limited primarily due to parts shortages. Despite shipping delays, the Evo 4G has only reached about 66,000 devices on its release weekend this month.
