It seems that iPhone 4’s pre-order process generates problems. Moreover, according to multiple complaints, there have been some severe privacy violations. Some of AT&T’s clients said that, when logging into their own accounts on the carrier’s website, they have been able to see other people’s personal information, which include addresses, phone calls and even bills.
AT&T itself admits that only some data has been kept hidden, like call details, credit cards or social security numbers. AT&T also adds that it is currently working on the problem, even if it hasn’t found a solution yet. According to an anonymous source, it seems that the problem may have a connection with a major fraud update which probably went wrong. The statement is not verified yet, nor confirmed by an official or a second source.
This is the carrier’s second Apple-related privacy leak in only one week; the first one had let slip over 114,000 iPad 3G owners’ identities; this includes even high-ranking government officials – for example, Rahm Emanuel, the White House Chief of Staff. Despite all these, the incidents may be somehow related to a public frustration over Apple’s new smartphone.
