Sony Ericsson has recently outed a new device, which is the company’s first Walkman handset. Even if the Yendo isn’t Android-based, it relies on the same four-corner UI as the X10 mini, offering quicker access to music and other basic tasks. Music benefits from an upgrade, thanks to a new Walkman application, which mainly has the same features, including track identifiers, MediaGo sharing and the PlayNow music store.
Social Networking is still available, offering Facebook, Orkut and also Twitter access. Costs are still kept down, since Sony Ericsson uses a two-megapixel camera, EDGE-only data and no GPS or Wi-Fi. A 2.6-inch, 320×240 display is used, working for music and keeping most of the tasks one-handed.
Sony Ericsson’s Yendo will most likely come out in the summer. Even if the device is said to work on AT&T’s 850MHz frequency, it is possible that the Yendo will be released later in areas like Latin America and Asia than in the USA, because of the two-band GSM and EDGE support.
