Sigma’s long-awaited SD15 DSLR finally has an announced release date and a final selling price. The camera will be launched in Europe on June 25, being priced at the equivalent of $1,443. The Sigma SD15 DSLR will benefit, as promised, from a 14-megapixel Foveon X3 direct image sensor, which includes three 4.7-megapixel layers, each capturing red, green and blue light.

The camera was first shown in September 2009. It will sport a 3-inch LCD display, a 77-segment AE sensor and also an Analog Front End. Users can save their pictures on a SD card. The camera is able to shoot 3FPS burst RAW images for up to 21 shots; it will also tout a high dynamic range mode, which will offer the possibility to bracket five different shots together.
