Toshiba came in the PC field with its dynabook TX/98MBL. It is the first notebook of Toshiba with a 3D-capable screen, but also the first anywhere capable of playing Blu-ray movies. The 15.6-inch system has a 120Hz LCD, a GeForce GTS 350M graphics with support for 3D Vision. There is also a WinDVD BD special version to display movies with extra dimension when watching with active shutter glasses.
The dynabook is placed in the middle of desktop replacements by using a quad-core 1.73GHz Core i7 with 7,4GB of RAM and a hard drive with a capacity of 640GB. The device’s 3D effect is not limited to movies, but should also work with photos and games.
The TX/98MBL notebook will go first in Japan, in late July, and will cost $2,723. Most of the company’s notebooks reach the United States; therefore a version of the system will probably be available in this country under the Qosmio emblem.
