Samsung South Africa has revealed the company’s plans for a tablet by posting a teaser of the first device of this kind. The Galaxy Tab would run the same customized Android 2.1 version as the Galaxy S, but its display would be much larger. The LCD would have 7 inches and a resolution similar to the AMOLED screen of the Galaxy S, if this was the final solution for the new device.

Using presumed ARM processors and a mobile operating system would be a contradiction for Samsung, because it is known that an Australian executive has criticized the iPad for these very reasons. He said that the best solution would consist in making a tablet fully Atom-based with expansion similar to notebooks. Unfortunately, the Galaxy Tab has neither of these.

Only few other details are known for now, but rumors say that the Galaxy Tab would come in August and would have an 8-inch version in October and a 10-inch model in December. Targets for this tablet are Korea and South Africa. The United States, as well as other countries, has not been nominated by now.
