Sony Ericsson is going to launch its first Walkman phone based on Android, according to a recent rumor.
The phone is supposed to sport a similar style to the Xperia X10 mini, but it would have a Walkman component, probably through an application. The operating system would however be limited to the version 1.6, but the hardware would be personalized through its removable backplates.
The X10 mini has a 2.6-inch touchscreen and a 5-megapixel camera, as well as connectivity through GPS, 3G and Wi-Fi. It is not as fast as the full version of Xperia X10, but the price is lower thanks to the reduced feature set. There is a possibility for the Walkman version to drop the camera flash.
The unveiling of the Walkman phone could happen this month, but the date of its shipping is not known yet.
