A leak from Vietnam has shown an unreleased Apple device, which is the iPod touch with a camera. The device found by Tinh Te is a DVT-1 late stage prototype that uses custom-developed test firmware from Apple. DVT-1 stands for Design Verification Test 1. The device identifies itself as being iPhone 3.1 and uses a 2-megapixel camera and two 32GB flash memory chips made by Samsung.
When performing a check of the serial number, it appears to be a third-generation iPod touch, which means it should have the same processor and internal components as the device that is currently on sale. As a consequence, it is possible that the prototype is a camera-equipped iPod touch scrapped before the September iPod event organized by Apple and not the prototype of a new model.
There are still rumors about Apple launching a camera-equipped iPod touch in spring, but it seems that time is off and Apple rarely releases iPods before September. Consequently, the probability of such a non-scheduled update is almost zero.

to customer service…I like the idea of having a camera on a ipod touch. Can this ipod be purchased.
