Panasonic recently provided concrete details with respect to the launches of the VIERA VT25 plasma TVs with 3D capabilities. They were first presented at CES this year. There are two TVs, a 50-inch and a 54-inch set, both of them scheduled to launch these days, with prices of $2,600 and $3,000 respectively. Other two larger TVs, a 58-inch and a 65-inch panel would launch sometime later, in June, and would be priced at $3,400 and $4,300 due to their larger screen area. A pair of active shutter glasses needed to achieve the 3D effect will be available for each set, extra pairs being priced at $150 each.
Being top range, these Panasonic plasmas have a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio provided by a new phosphor. The refresh rate is at 600Hz. All these sets carry normal Internet connection features that include Skype and Netflix support. They also have VT25-specific features for ISFccc-level colour calibration as well as a reference picture mode.
