The ASUS G51J-3D 15-inch notebook will soon be followed by a 17-inch model, as sources from Samsung, LG Display and CMI (Chimei Innolux Corporation) claim. All these three companies are negotiating with ASUS to provide displays for the notebook which was estimated to have an early 2010 release. According to the new information, however, the 17-inch notebook will have a 2010 summer release date.

Of the three companies, CMI is the most experienced in supplying 3D monitor panels, but Samsung and LG Display have recently began the mass production of their own 3D panels. ASUS’ decision will certainly point to the best quality panels’ supplier.

Specifications revealed last year, if real, mention a 17.3-inch display notebook including an Intel Core i7 processor, 4GB of RAM, two 320GB hard drives and a GeForce GTS 160M graphics chipset. Thee specifications are expected to slightly change, eventually, by the time the new ASUS notebook launches.
