Cisco, after the buyout of Pure Digital, is going to release a first major design for the Flip, according to sources from a Best Buy store. Similar to the design of a phone slider, the Flip Side HD would sport the same small LCD display and basic recording controls, but has an angled slide-out view with a second and larger screen to allow watching videos in the style of a portable DVD player. The body of the device resembles the Flip Mino HD rather than the bigger Ultra-line. Recording is expected at 720-pixel in contrast with the 1,080-pixel of some of its competitors, but the Flip Side HD will have 16GB of built-in storage. As Cisco estimates, the storage will be enough to support about four hours of video.
Other details are not known that include the price and the shipping date as well. However, the presence of complete retail packaging indicates that the Flip Side HD is going to be launched and will soon be available, as soon as it will be unveiled.
