Samsung has recently shown a slide revealing the future line-up of phones running its own Bada operating system at a developer meeting in Russia. Specific information on the four new devices is still unknown, but it seems they all will be more downmarket, as their projected prices indicate. Two of them will be candy bar touchscreen handsets and the other two will be vertical sliding devices equipped with full QWERTY hardware keyboards.
The Wave is the single one that has been officially revealed as the first to date handset to run the Bada operating system. The new UI can have ten home screens, will use TouchWiz 3.0 for widget handling and also has embedded Flash support with the web browser included. The inbox collects the incoming IMs as well as events on Facebook and Twitter. A social hub brings together contacts from other similar sources. The Wave is a high-end device sporting a 3.3-inch Super AMOLED display and is powered by a 1GHz processor.
Plans are that the company sells about 1.5 million handsets powered by Bada, with unsubsidized prices ranging between the equivalent of $340 and $685.
