Nokia’s new touchscreen slider: the C6

A future possible Nokia handset, called the C6, could most likely be the company’s entry-level touchscreen slider phone; this will go below the N97 mini (the two devices share the same styling cues). Rumors claim that the C^ will have a touchscreen and a hidden hardware QWERTY keyboard as well. N97’s (the full size version) trackpad will also be available for the new handset.

The difference between Nokia’s two devices seems to be that the C6 will benefit from a more conventional sliding action: unlike the N97 and N97 mini, which angle the phone up towards the user, the C6 will slide differently. Moreover, Nokia’s C6 will have 256MB of internal storage memory; a microSD slot will allow users to extend it.

The prices and release dates for the C6 are still unknown, but the handset is expected to come out in Europe sometime this summer. Shortly thereafter, a release for North America should take place.
