ASUS has rolled out what it claims to be the smallest five-channel speaker array in the world. The Cine5 is meant to provide computers with surround sound in a special single piece design. It uses standard analogue 3.5mm connections for surround instead of optical ones, but can restore details lost while a track is downmixed to stereo.

Total power reaches just 15W, but its combination of side-firing bass port and high-end drivers is supposed to produce about 15 decibels more bass than any other speaker systems of its size. Private audio is supplied by a headphone output without the need of rewiring a computer.

The Cine5 system supports any computer having appropriate stereo or surround output. It will be available soon, although like in most cases related to ASUS launches, no concrete information about pricing or shipping dates is available.
