A new version will be added to EA Sports Active trainer for the Wii console, according to EA sources. EA Sports Active 2.0 will be available for iPhone, iPod touch, Sony PS3 and Wii. The system is based on wireless control, with arm and leg straps that contain motion sensors. A heart rate monitor as well as an online hub to record and share workout information is also included. The heart rate monitor is meant to enable the users to track the intensity of their efforts in real time on the screen. Data tracked over time will show them their progress. The hub will share this workout information with other users of the EA Sports Active and will allow interaction with other users and sending messages to each other. A PS3 connection will allow users to download new workouts and exercises.

EA Sports Active 2.0 is based on three phases and is a nine-week program. New mini-programs can be added in order to keep users motivated. The software will be ready sometime in the fall, but prices are not yet announced.
