ASUS president Jonney Shih finally announced the Eee Keyboard to be launched in April this year. This news comes from the CeBIT show in Germany and after about one year from the introduction at last year’s CeBIT show. The hybrid PC, as it was called, has been delayed from the promised launch in June 2009 and then postponed in October for unknown reasons.

According to an FCC filing from October, the Eee Keyboard’s specifications include a 5-inch, 800×480 capacitive touchscreen, a 1.6GHZ Intel Atom processor, 1GB of RAM and a Broadcom video processor. The device will be available in 16GB or 32GB capacities, HDMI and VGA port equipped wired or wireless UWB version. The UWB wireless model will have a 16.4-foot range and will be able to send out 720-pixel videos. Either version will connect to external displays for a full PC experience. The unconfirmed specifications include Windows XP and connectivity through Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and gigabit Ethernet. Battery life should be about four hours.

Last year’s expectations for the wireless Eee Keyboard price were in the range of $600, while the price of the wired model was estimated at $400, according to ASUS chairman Jerry Shen. The prices have not been confirmed by now and may be changed since those originally targeted.
