Sony’s Dash Personal Internet Viewer can now be pre-ordered, with the shipping date starting on April 15th. The device seems to be a more functional variant of the Chumby and is able to show news, play media and Facebook updates. It benefits from a 7-inch touchscreen, with a resolution of 800×480. A rather unique feature allows download from a library which consists of more than 1,500 free applications (all are developed by Chumby).

Preloaded applications include NAVTEQ for maps, Cozi, Blip.tv, Crackle, Epicurious, Livestrong, Pandora, as well as YouTube. Many of these can run simultaneously. The BRAVIA Internet Video service allows users to access music videos and movies; photos already uploaded on PhotoBucket can also be viewed. The device offers USB 2.0 support, the interface allowing users to play back from any external drive.
