On March 1st, 2010, Archos has officially presented the company’s home-oriented tablets to run Android. Archos 7 and Archos 8 are both using ARM9 CPUs, alongside the Google platform.
Archos 8 is a unique digital photo frame, especially designed for use on the web and video playback. It is less than 0.5 inches thick and can work both as handheld and on a stand. The 4GB Archos 8 will be sold under a $200 price tag and will most likely be launched this May.
Archos 7 is more conventional and benefits from integrated Wi-Fi, as well as from a USB 2.0 connection. The tablet offers 7 hours of battery life (for video playback) or 44 hours, if it is used exclusively for listening to music. The 2GB Archos 7 will be priced at about $200 in Europe and the 8GB variant, at $240. The device will be available sometime in April.
