The first Samsung 3D-enabled HDTV is currently available for purchase on Amazon. Even if the 55-inch UN55C7000 is not the company’s main 3D HDTV, it includes a 240Hz LED display. Samsung’s 3D-enabled TVs, including the C7000, has been announced during the 2010 CES show.
The C7000 benefits from four HDMI 1.3 inputs, which are HDMI-CEC compatible: a component, a VGA, two ConnectShare Movie USB ports. It also has a BDWise feature, which is able to adjust components automatically, in order to offer the best picture and sound quality. The TV set offers two 15W speakers, as well as a swiveling stand. Even if the TV is 3D-compatible, 3D source material or content has not yet been created. The company’s first 3D Blu-ray movie will most probably be released later in 2010; broadcasters will also launch 3D content, but at a yet unknown date.
The C7000, initially presented during fall 2009, will be available earlier than the 3D TVs for the UK. Other models are also expected soon. The 55-inch C7000 is priced under a $3,300 tag on Amazon.
The samsung 7000, 8000 & 9000 series (all 3d ready) can convert 2d to 3d on the fly, this may possibly be to make up for lack of content in the early days of 3D. But of course it won’t be the same as native 3d content. People who have viewed converted 3D say it resembles a pop up picture book, as in the background appears 2d.
