Motorola Cliq updated with improved battery life and Quick Office 2

Motorola has recently used its support forums to reveal that the software update 1.3.18 for the Cliq smartphone has been released. Already made available to most of the users, the update should improve the battery life, boosted GPS performance and the sensitivity of the touchscreen. It also provides Quick Office 2 that allows users to create, open or edit Microsoft Office documents.

This update also solves several current issues, such as reducing spontaneous activation of the speakerphone and music playback through the earpiece instead of external speakers or making missed call notification more consistent to improve it. Also added are WAV and WMA file support. There is also speeding up for tasks like geotagging photos and Google Maps.

A software change for Bluetooth will let OEM Bluetooth car kits to display the names of the incoming callers, visualizing the call history and synchronizing the phone book, so that calls can be made using the car’s interface. Owners can listen to voicemail through Bluetooth. Contacts that are saved on the SIM card can be deleted, imported or exported individually or in groups. Included in the update are also the latest versions of Google’s applications.

The phone maker has also scheduled an update to Android 2.1 OS soon, without specifying when it would occur.
