Belkin’s product lineup has been recently expanded through various peripherals supporting the new USB 3.0 standard. The line includes two expansion cards: the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 PCIe Add-In Card, which is dedicated to desktop computers, and the SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ExpressCard adapter, especially designed for notebooks. The SuperSpeed A-B Cable and the SuperSpeed Premium Micro-B Cable are two USB 3.0-compliant cables, also introduced by Belkin.

Belkin claims, through tests, that the company’s USB 3.0 products help triple the transfer speeds as compared to the USB 2.0. The USB 3.0 theoretically offers five gigabytes per second, which means ten times the rate of the USB 2.0.

Belkin has already announced the retail prices. Pricing for desktop and laptop cards has been established to $80. A four foot cable will be available for $40, while an eight foot cable will be sold for $50. Belkin’s new product lineup will start shipping this year, in April, for the US, and in May, for Canada.
