Samsung’s president Hu has announced that the company is about to release its 3D-enabled TVs to the UK market, somewhere in March. He has also promised that every top Samsung TV will have 3D capability. In March, the company will be launching about 20 different 3D-capable products, including Blu-ray players, as well as 3D glasses.
Moreover, the 3D content will start being available to the new 3D Blu-ray movies; this is due to a partnership between Samsung and DreamWorks. The soccer World Cup will also be broadcasted in 3D. The first Blu-ray 3D movie will be Monsters vs. Aliens.
Samsung has first presented its 3D TVs at CES; the presented products included the LED9000 flagship, which benefits from a LED display, having less than 0.33 inches thickness. This will be available in 40- and 63-inch sizes and will be capable to convert 2D content into 3D, thanks to a RealD technology.
Samsung’s 3D TVs will be available in the UK in March. Moreover, these will start shipping in North America soon after that. Equivalent US models include the LED9000, LED8000, LED7000, LCD750 and PDP7000. Prices for the 3D TVs have not yet been established.
