On February 15, 2010, Acer presented four new phones, two Android-based and two Windows Mobile-based. The best in the series is the beTouch E400, which is the company’s first Android 2.1 phone, even if it carries only a 600MHz processor; this is way the device’s price is expected to drop below the Liquid A1’s price. The unique touch is, in fact, a customizable LED lighting system, which is able to illuminate in various colors, depending on the occasion.
The hardware places the phone in mid-range: it has a 480×320 display and a 3.2-megapixel resistive touchscreen.
The beTouch E110 is the first budget Android smartphone from Acer, using Android 1.5, a 2.8-inch 320×240 touchscreen, as well as a 3-megapixel camera.
Acer’s beTouch E110 will most probably start shipping in March and the E400, in April.
The two Windows Mobile 6.5.3 running smartphones, the neoTouch P300 and P400, differ mainly in form factor. The P300 benefits from a slide-out QWERTY keyboard, as well as a 3.2-megapixel camera and a 3.2-inch 400×240 display. In exchange, the P400, despite the similar features, has a touch-only form and a 480×320 screen. Acer’s P300 will be shipping in March, while the P400 will only be available somewhere in May.
